The district has a rich natural resource potential, which in turn contributes to the activation of the investment cycle.

Land resources:The bonitet of agricultural lands is 32.4 points, the bonitet of arable land is 33.6 points. The total area of the district's lands is 170.7 thousand hectares, including 70.8 thousand hectares of arable land, 1.0 thousand hectares of lands occupied by permanent crops, and 21.1 thousand hectares of meadow lands.

The lands of the Orshansky district are suitable for cultivating the following agricultural crops: wheat, rye, oats, grain legumes, flax‑long‑staple, potatoes, rapeseed, etc.

Minerals:Within the district there are 12 quarries for extracting sand‑gravel mixture, silicate sands, sands; of these, 5 quarries belong to industrial organizations and enterprises and 7 are internal.

Also within the boundaries of the Orshansky district there are peat deposits. There are deposits (sections of deposits) containing a particularly valuable type of peat: «Krucha» and «Nyaronki».

Water resources:Lakes are an integral part of the region's natural environment, have great environmental and socio-economic importance, and contain large reserves of water, biological and mineral resources. There are excellent prospects for the development of fisheries and tourism.

There are 66 water bodies in the district, of which 13 are lakes. The largest lakes by area are Bolshoye Orekhovskoye, Devinskoe, Kuzmino, Karesino, Perevalochnoe.

Forest resources:Forests cover 27% of the territory of the Orshansky district. Mainly they consist of coniferous (spruce) plantings, with birch, aspen, and alder also occurring.

The district has experienced qualified personnel and an adequate raw material base. Comfortable conditions have been created for the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
