For order on the earth. In Orsha they are building a large pedestrian bridge
In the area of Shklovskaya Street in Orsha, large-scale construction of a pedestrian bridge over the railway tracks continues. The work is being carried out by the branch "Construction and Installation Train No. 169 at the Vitebsk station." Journalists from "Arshanka" continue to observe this large, socially significant project.
From the side of the 3rd Shklovsky Lane, a retaining wall has already been built, and monolithic work on the installation of supports and girders for the span structure has been completed. This week, a 160-ton truck crane is working on the site – workers are assembling the span structure for the crossing over two railway tracks to Shklovskaya Street. The main volume of work in January 2026 will be carried out from this side of the road.
A comprehensive team is working on the site, consisting of concrete workers, bricklayers, welders, and construction structure assemblers from the Orsha section and the bridge work section of the branch. In January, an additional construction team from the Vitebsk station will be sent here. The subcontracted works involved the companies "Burttechprom" and "Metrostroy."
As specialists from SMP No. 169 told the journalist of the "Arshanskaya Gazeta," the bridge is being built according to a standard scheme using structures produced in Belarus: a typical span structure in the form of a reinforced concrete beam from the Fanipol plant of reinforced concrete bridge structures. In construction terms, the pedestrian bridge is quite long – about 270 meters, taking into account that it will have several turns on descents and ascents. The highest support rises more than 11 meters above the ground.
The bridge is designed for a barrier-free environment without steps, and the gentle slope should be convenient for people with limited physical abilities, for passing with strollers and other aids while safely crossing the railway tracks. The structure will be equipped with a metal frame with a canopy from the weather. Lighting is also provided on the bridge.
After the completion of the main construction and installation works, finishers will come to the site. The final finishing is planned to begin in the spring, weather permitting.
