За порядок на земле. Как в Орше строится сквер Трудовой Славы

For order on Earth. How the Labor Glory Square is being built in Orsha

In Orsha, work continues in the under-construction square at the site of the installation of the stele with the honorary title of the CIS "City of Labor Glory. 1941–1945." Journalists from the "Arshanskaya Gazeta" are closely monitoring the progress of this important construction project.

Since the summer of this year, preparations have been underway for a territory of about 0.42 hectares at the intersection of Sergei Grytsevets and Konstantin Zaslonov streets for the future square. Today, its main outlines are already clearly visible.

The main element of the square will be the stele "Orsha – City of Labor Glory. 1941–1945" with a height of about 9 meters on a round pedestal. In front of it is a triangular square, and from different corners of the square, like rays, four wide paths will converge to the stele. Communications for the lighting of the stele and low-voltage networks have been preliminarily laid.

Last week, workers began laying curb stones and paving tiles around the perimeter of the square. The foundation for it is being prepared in other areas. On October 7, the installation of the stele began. The installation of decorative retaining walls along the paths, where flower beds will be formed on the elevation, is nearing completion. The ray paths will also be paved with tiles, and the walls will be faced with granite slabs.

Workers from the state-owned enterprise "Orsha Special Auto Base", private enterprise "BetonGarant", joint-stock company "Orsha Construction Trust No. 18", and state-owned enterprise "Orshakomhoz" are working on the site daily.

The work is planned to be completed in November.

The decision to award the honorary title "City of Labor Glory. 1941-1945" to a number of cities in the Commonwealth of Independent States was made by the Council of Heads of State of the CIS this year as a tribute of respect and gratitude to the residents for their significant contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Among the first cities to be awarded the honorary title are two Belarusian district centers – Orsha and Baranavichy.
