"For science, one must take it seriously". Lukashenko announced a meeting with the NAS.
The head of state Alexander Lukashenko announced on June 12 at a meeting with the leadership of the Presidential Administration meetings with the leadership of the National Bank and the National Academy of Sciences, reports BELTA correspondent.
"In the near future, we will hold a similar meeting at the level of the President with the employees and leadership of the National Bank. Then we need to organize and hold a congress of scientists. We need to take science seriously. This area is practically excluded from the Presidential Administration, and I do not see it in the work on organizing the scientific activity process, especially in obtaining results," said Alexander Lukashenko.
The head of state explained that the need for a meeting at the NAS is also due to recent personnel changes. As is known, Vladimir Karanik was appointed chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on May 22, having previously worked as Deputy Prime Minister. The President made it clear that this is not the only personnel change and others will follow. "In connection with the changes that have occurred and will occur in the leadership of the Academy of Sciences (a thematic meeting needs to be held. - Note by BELTA). Will occur - this is also a topic that concerns not only me, but you primarily," he said.
