Exhibition “Ars longa, vita brevis” for the 50th anniversary of the “Renaissance” club

From September 24, 2025, the Orsha City Art Gallery will host the exhibition "Ars longa, vita brevis," dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the folk club of Orsha artists "Renaissance." The exhibition features works that are stored in the collection of the cultural institution "Museum Complex of History and Culture of Orsha Region."

In 1975, a decision was made to create an official association of Orsha artists, which was named "Renaissance." The name implied a focus on the revival of the cultural traditions of the ancient city of Orsha and the Belarusian national school of painting. The activities of the folk club and the creativity of its members are associated with the brightest pages of the city's culture. Among the founders of the association were activists and initiators such as Yuri Krikov and Boris Orlov. Over the years, the collective has been led by Boris Ivanov, Sergey Fomchenko, Alexander Shakutin, and Anatoly Zhuravlyov. These are the names of those for whom Orsha and the Orsha region are not just a note in their biography, but a creative memory, captured in their works in one way or another.

In 1980, the club was awarded the honorary title of "people's amateur collective," which it has successfully confirmed multiple times. At the exhibitions of the association, alongside the works of professional artists, the works of representatives of naive art are exhibited, whose creativity captivates with its sincerity.

The exhibition features more than 50 works by 22 artists and sculptors – V.Batura, A.Bashkov, Yu.Polyakov, S.Denisova, A.Yermolaev, V.Zhitnov, A.Zhuravlyov, B.Ivanov, V.Gurchenkov, E.Zhuravlevich, A.Kozhemyako, Yu.Krikov, A.Marychev, B.Orlov, G.Sklyarova, P.Sidorovich, I.Khodenko, S.Fomchenko, A.Shilko, A.Shakutin, S.Shavrov, and V.Yankovskaya.

The exhibition will run until October 26, 2025, inclusive.
