Vitebsk region is the leader among regions in the share of Belarusian goods in trade
The consumer market of Vitebsk region is characterized by stability and high commodity saturation, with sales growth ensured for most product positions accounted for by statistics. This conclusion was made at a meeting of the board of the main department of trade and services with the participation of the deputy chairman of the regional executive committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, representatives of the main department of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, and the State Control Committee.
The agenda included the results of the industry’s work for the nine months of the current year. Many indicators are encouraging. Thus, our region maintains a leading position among the regions of the republic in terms of the share of Belarusian products in retail turnover, which amounted to 63.1%.
– There is a positive trend in the growth rate of retail turnover across all sales channels – 105.4%. Per capita, it amounted to 6.6 thousand rubles. The growth rate of the turnover of public catering amounted to 102.9%, – explained the deputy head of the main department of trade and services of the regional executive committee, Alexey Bogachyov.
According to the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the consumer price index for the region for September 2025 compared to December 2024 was lower than that of the republic as a whole and amounted to 105.7%. Our region occupies a leading position in the republic in terms of the effectiveness of control and analytical measures regarding compliance with legislation on prices and pricing. This undoubtedly contributes to maintaining a stable price situation in the region.
A developed infrastructure has been formed in the region: more than 13 thousand trade facilities of various formats, 79 shopping centers, 51 markets, and over 1800 public catering facilities.
– Great attention is paid to servicing the rural population. Ongoing work is being done to reduce the burden on the consumer cooperative system by attracting other economic entities to organize trade. Currently, there are 256 consumer cooperative stores and more than 700 trading points of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs operating in rural areas. Without the participation of the regional consumer society enterprises, rural residents of the Braslaw, Orsha, and Sharkovshchina districts, as well as certain territories of the Vitebsk, Postavy, Rossony, and Tolchin districts are serviced by auto shops of other economic entities. Work continues on the issue with republican trade networks regarding the transfer of functions for trading services to the rural population, taking into account the norms of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 294, – noted Alexey Bogachyov.
The board paid attention to regions that have not yet utilized their development reserves in the industry, improving service quality and performance indicators.
As a result of the board meeting, priority tasks were identified for all city and district executive committees that need to be completed by the end of the year.
