Veteran of the Orsha EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICE Dmitry Daineko: "The main reward — saved lives"
January 19 is a special date in our country – the Day of the Rescuer of Belarus. This is a holiday for brave, courageous, determined, and dedicated people. The land of Orsha has many glorious names of those who have devoted most of their lives to the fight against the merciless element of fire, who have served honestly for the good of their Motherland. Among them is the veteran of the Orsha GROS Dmitry Dayneko.
After school, he graduated from Vocational School No. 110 for builders (now Orsha Polytechnic College) and Orsha Railway Technical School (now Orsha College – a branch of BelGUT), but he did not think about the profession of a firefighter at that time. A chance played a significant role in his formation. Dmitry Dayneko has been practicing sambo and judo since childhood. At one of the competitions, a former head of the Orsha city department Alexander Lipatov noticed the strong young man. It was he who suggested Dmitry Adolfovich become a rescuer. Thus began the thorny path into the profession.
– I joined the service in 1997, – recalled Dmitry Adolfovich. – When I first stepped over the threshold of the fire department, I could not even imagine that I had found the profession of my life. Ahead of me were 22 years of challenging work in the fire team, hundreds of fires, and dozens of saved lives. I started as a firefighter. The service immediately captivated me. I realized – this is my calling. I was literally "burning" at work.
As Dmitry Dayneko recounted, the service was not always easy; there were various cases. But thanks to the coordinated work of each team member, they always managed to overcome the fiery element.
It is no secret that our rescuers are true professionals in their field. They not only stand guard over our safety but can also be dispatched to almost any point in the world if needed. This was the case with Dmitry Adolfovich. In 2010, wildfires occurred in the Ryazan region of the Russian Federation over a very large area. As part of a team of rescuers from Orsha and Vitebsk, he went to assist his colleagues. As Dmitry Dayneko explained, various firefighting techniques were used to tame the raging flames. Over the course of 10 days, the rescuers did everything they could and fully accomplished their task.
Dmitry Adolfovich retired from his position as head of the Barani city department. He now heads the Orsha district organization of the Belarusian public organization of veterans of emergency situations (BОО) "Rescuer".
– There are about 150 veterans living in Orsha, 60 of whom are members of the district organization, – said Dmitry Dayneko. – Every year we hold a large number of events and actively participate in sports and creative competitions organized by the Orsha GROS. We do not forget the anniversaries of our veterans, congratulating them on other holidays as well. We pay great attention to the younger generation. Members of our organization visit schools, telling students about their profession and veterans. But most importantly, they continue the traditions of the firefighting brotherhood.
Outwardly strict and serious, Dmitry Dayneko is a kind-hearted person, always ready to help others. He has been and remains an example of integrity, discipline, and courage for rescuers. He has helped many generations of recruits become true professionals in their chosen field. For his significant contribution to the prevention and elimination of fires and exemplary performance of official duties, Dmitry Adolfovich has been repeatedly awarded various honors and certificates. But the veteran is convinced that the best reward for him has always been and will be the lives saved.
