"In the spring there will be a final exam". Lukashenko on the development in Zhirovychi
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during his visit to Zhirovichi, where one of the major Orthodox centers - the Holy Assumption Zhirovichi Monastery - is located, drew the attention of responsible officials to the shortcomings in landscaping and order maintenance, which had been previously assigned, reports a BELTA correspondent.
"Some elements surrounding this monastery indicate that something was done here hastily quite recently. Not everything is done. Remember: this is a pearl of Orthodoxy. We must create an ideal place here for the Orthodox," emphasized the Belarusian leader.
"The village must be ideal. Up to the barn. This is a pearl. People will come here. We will educate the youth," noted the head of state.
As reported by BELTA, during another visit to the Zhirovichi Monastery in June 2021, the President instructed to complete the landscaping not only of the monastery and its territory but also of the village itself within four years. "Zhirovichi is our village. And part of this village is the monastery and the church. It must be brought to an ideal state. This should be a pearl. I promise you that we will fully allocate funds according to the needs. But in a businesslike manner," he said.
