«Great May of the Great Victory»: more than 40 art compositions presented at the exhibition in Vitebsk shopping centre “Trio”
"What was not with me, I remember..." Thus, with the words from a famous song, one can convey the impression of the exhibition "The Great May of the Great Victory," which opened in Vitebsk at the "Trio" shopping center.
The exhibition features works in which today's generation tries to convey the experiences of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers who endured the hardships of war. The exhibition was organized by the Vitebsk branch of the Belarusian party "White Russia" and the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov.
– This project aims to remind as many people as possible about the days of trials that fell upon our country, about the defenders of the Fatherland, and to celebrate the day of the Great Victory as it should be for the descendants of the victors, – noted Valentina Bogatyreva, chairwoman of the Vitebsk regional branch of the Belarusian party "White Russia" and rector of the Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov.
The exhibition presents more than forty artistic compositions from different corners of Vitebsk region. These are works created by members of "White Russia," schoolchildren, and kindergarten students. The exhibition also includes two projects from the Novopolotsk city branch of the party – "The Artist Who Defeated Fascism" and "Stalag 354." The latter is dedicated to one of the tragic pages in the history of the Great Patriotic War – the camp organized by the fascists in the military town of Borovukha-1, where from 1941 to 1944, 29,000 Red Army soldiers were held, 18,000 of whom perished.
Valentina Bogatyreva also spoke about other projects of "White Russia" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory. In particular, about the "Dictation of Victory," which will be written on the train from Minsk to Moscow, the updated digital museum dedicated to Pyotr Masherov, and the internet platform where the memories of participants and witnesses of the Great Patriotic War are collected.
