This was mentioned at the meeting of the regional executive committee, where the socio-economic development of Vitebsk region for the first quarter of 2025 and the improvement of organizational efficiency were discussed.
In a conversation with journalists, the deputy chairperson of the regional executive committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, noted that, considering the quite high baseline across all parameters of the similar period last year, we performed decently in the first quarter of 2025. An industrial production growth of 102.7% has been ensured (excluding oil products due to the current market situation), and there has been an increase in retail trade and public catering turnover, investments in fixed capital, passenger and cargo turnover. The highest growth is in high-tech sectors – pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and many others. All tasks have been completed by the construction sector, including the commissioning of housing. The agricultural complex fell slightly short on some indicators. However, the backlog will be eliminated by the end of 5 months.
Currently, Vitebsk region is one of the few regions meeting the export target to the Russian Federation. Overall, by the end of the first half of the year, it is planned to ensure a growth rate of exports at the level of 105%.
94 enterprises produce import-substituting products, and eleven are starting new projects.
Active work is underway within the framework of the "Regional Initiative": 4 projects have already been announced, and another 15 are under consideration.
At the meeting of the regional executive committee, shortcomings and reserves were analyzed that will allow increasing the efficiency of the economy of Vitebsk region.
