Temporary traffic restrictions are being introduced in the Vitebsk region from March 23

Based on the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Road Traffic" in accordance with the decision of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee dated March 13, 2026, "On Changing the Organization of Road Traffic," temporary restrictions on the movement of vehicles are introduced.

From March 23 to April 30, 2026, temporary restrictions on the movement of vehicles, self-propelled machines, with a load on a single axle exceeding six tons, are introduced when moving on local public roads of general use of category III, as well as vehicles, self-propelled machines, with a load on a single axle exceeding five tons, when moving on local public roads of general use of categories IV – VI-b.

From May 20 to August 31, 2026, temporary restrictions on the movement of vehicles, self-propelled machines, with a load on a single axle exceeding five tons, are introduced when moving on local public roads of general use with asphalt concrete pavement during the daytime from 11:00 to 20:00 at daytime air temperatures above 25°C.

The temporary restrictions established during the specified periods do not apply to:

• - Vehicles, self-propelled machines, carrying passengers, medicinal products, diesel fuel, gasoline, liquefied gas, and motor oil, road bitumens, concrete and asphalt concrete mixtures, seed fund, grain, feed for agricultural animals, rapeseed seeds, mineral fertilizers, animal waste for their disposal and/or processing, live animals, milk and dairy products, mail and postal cargo, perishable goods, humanitarian aid cargo;
• - Vehicles, self-propelled machines, carrying out transportation for the purpose of ensuring defense capability, law and order, preventing or eliminating emergencies;
• - Vehicles, self-propelled machines, engaged in the construction, reconstruction, operation (maintenance and current repairs), capital repairs of local public roads of general use;
• - Vehicles delivering wood and peat fuel to heat sources of housing and communal services.

In the presence of a special permit for the passage of heavy and/or oversized vehicles on public roads during the restriction periods, passage on local public roads of general use with exceeding permissible parameters of vehicles carrying export (import) cargo from the states - members of the Eurasian Economic Union, which started moving from the loading point outside the Republic of Belarus until March 23, 2026, inclusive (with the presence of shipping documents confirming the start of movement within the specified period) is allowed.
