In Vitebsk, they honored the employees of the Main Statistical Department of the region
On the eve of the holiday – the Day of State Statistics Workers and the 105th anniversary of the establishment of state statistics bodies of the Republic of Belarus, celebrated on August 23, the best workers in the field were honored in Vitebsk.
Statistics in Belarus originated in the mid-19th century, and the first Vitebsk provincial statistical committee was established on May 4, 1835. Thus, the state statistics bodies are celebrating 105 years, while Vitebsk statistics is already 190 years old!
To allow honored guests and participants of the solemn event to immerse themselves in history, a thematic exhibition was presented in the hall of the administration. Here, one could learn about the techniques used in the past for collecting statistical data, as well as familiarize themselves with documents reflecting the past in numbers. Some of them are impossible to read without tears. For example, information about the atrocities of the German-fascist invaders, where the dead and those who died of hunger were counted.
– It is no coincidence that state statistical bodies were created first, and only then the real sector of the economy. After all, it is impossible to make any correct, thoughtful, rational management decision without the large numbers and information that you process, – addressed the industry workers Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Executive Committee Anzhelika Nikitina. – 99% of the success of the real sector of the economy depends on the complex methodologies, numbers, and directions that you oversee today. You fill thousands of tables, process and verify millions of data to provide them for assessment and response to various moments in the development of the region's economy, budget filling, and improving the quality of life of our population.
As noted by the head of the Main Statistical Department of the Vitebsk Region Yuri Moskalev, behind the accurate data of official statistics are highly qualified personnel, a friendly cohesive team of professional statisticians, whose main goal is to achieve maximum success in effectively fulfilling the assigned tasks with minimal costs.
– Throughout its 105-year history, Belarusian statistics has proven to be in demand among a wide range of users and has also gained a high level of trust in official statistical information. The deserved and fruitful conscientious work of the employees of the Main Department has always been highly valued at all levels, – said Yuri Moskalev. – In our collection, there are many honorary state awards: orders of honor and medals for labor achievements. Our employees have been awarded letters of gratitude from the President, honorary certificates and letters of gratitude from the Council of Ministers, the Presidential Administration, Belstat, and other significant awards. I am confident that this collection will be further replenished.
Yuri Moskalev was not mistaken; during the festive event, employees of the statistical department were awarded Honorary Certificates and letters of gratitude from the regional executive committee, city executive committee, district administrations of Vitebsk, and trade unions. Several individuals were awarded departmental awards: the badge of honor "Honored Worker of State Statistics", the Honorary Certificate of the National Statistical Committee, as well as the regional department.
