On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, a car rally was launched in Vitebsk in memory of the heroes.

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, investigators from Belarus and Russia honored the memory of those who liberated our Motherland from the German fascist invaders.

The solemn opening of the international car rally took place in Vitebsk at the memorial complex in honor of Soviet soldiers-liberators, partisans, and underground fighters at Victory Square.

Future colleagues – students of the law faculty of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov – joined the investigators from both countries. Together, they laid wreaths and flowers at the foot of the memorial.

Employees of the investigative committees from Vitebsk, Gomel, Minsk, and Mogilev regions, representatives of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and investigative departments of the Investigative Committee from Bryansk and Smolensk regions are participating in the large-scale project. Participants of the memorial route will visit the memorial complex "For Our Soviet Motherland" (Orsha), the military glory memorial "Ludchitskaya Height" (Bykhov District), and the memorial complexes "Ola" (Svetlogorsk District) and "Ozarichi" (Kalinkovichi District), where solemn events will take place.

– A memorial car rally of such scale is taking place on our land for the first time and symbolizes the unity of our two nations. This is a tribute to those who fell. The route of the car rally passes through three regions – Vitebsk, Mogilev, and Gomel. I am confident that this tradition will continue, and together with our Russian colleagues, we will visit memorial sites in Smolensk, Bryansk, Pskov, and other regions, – emphasized the head of the Investigative Committee's department for Vitebsk region, Colonel of Justice Alexander Gutsko.

– It is very important to remember our great-grandfathers and grandfathers, who at the cost of their lives won Victory and a peaceful future. Such actions are necessary to pass on the memory of the victors to the youth and thus support patriotic education and the connection between generations. Together with our Vitebsk colleagues, we have planned joint memory watches in the Smolensk region, where search teams are still finding the remains of Soviet soldiers who heroically died for the liberation of our common Motherland. One of these watches will take place in August, – noted the head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Smolensk region, Major General of Justice Anatoly Ukhanov.
