In Orsha, a time capsule was placed with a message to future generations
Today is a truly historic event for the Orsha region – a capsule with a message for future generations has been laid in the future Labor Glory Square on Sergei Grytsevets Street.
It is symbolic that this ceremony took place on the eve of the anniversary of the Great Victory. The event was attended by honored guests – the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, and the Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee Igor Moroz. Orsha is a city that during the Great Patriotic War became a symbol of courage and resilience, and in peacetime – of selfless labor. Very soon, a beautiful square with shady trees, cozy alleys, and blooming flowerbeds will appear at the intersection of Sergei Grytsevets and Konstantin Zaslonov Streets, and a stele "Orsha – City of Labor Glory 1941-1945 years" will be erected. Here, a residential quarter of multi-storey buildings will also be built soon. Opening the ceremony, Igor Sergeenko emphasized that the laying of the capsule with a message to future generations is a significant event that connects several generations.
– Our fathers and grandfathers in Orsha managed to restore the operation of the railway hub and several enterprises in a short time. By the end of 1945, the Orsha linen mill was operational, and other enterprises were being restored. Therefore, it is no coincidence that Orsha, along with Baranovichi, has been nominated for the honorary title of "City of Labor Glory. 1941-1945 years," said the Chairman of the House of Representatives. – Orsha has changed beyond recognition in recent years. This change was certainly facilitated by the program approved by the President for the development of Orsha and the Orsha district. Essentially, it breathed new life into several enterprises, the social sphere is developing dynamically, and new microdistricts are growing. The city is alive and actively developing.
Igor Sergeenko noted that the city has a rich history and today’s achievements are based on the labor of people who made a significant contribution to the development of a strategically important industrial and cultural center for the country.
– This is an assessment of the labor of previous generations, first and foremost. Orsha is a city of military and labor glory. It is a major industrial center, a railway hub of our country, – he said.
For his part, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin noted:
– We pay tribute not only to the victorious warriors but also to those who worked at the machines in the rear and after the war, worked on construction sites, and in the fields. In the message to descendants, there are words of gratitude to the heroes of the war, a story about the labor feat of the city’s residents who restored enterprises in a short time. It also mentions the current achievements of the region. The time capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2075.
The right to lay the time capsule in the future Labor Glory Square was granted to the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko. After the ceremony, the guests visited the Military-Historical Museum named after the Hero of the Soviet Union K. S. Zaslonov, where they met with members of the military-patriotic club "Memory" of Gymnasium No. 1 named after G. V. Semyonov and students of the railway transport college. For them, a presentation of the new project "Orsha: FIGHT FOR VICTORY" took place, and they had a guided tour of the museum.
