In Orsha, the Square of Labor Glory and the memorial stele "Orsha – city of labor glory 1941–1945" were solemnly opened.
Today, a truly historic event took place in our city – the opening of the Labor Glory Square and the memorial stele "Orsha – City of Labor Glory 1941 – 1945".
The ceremony was attended by: Head of the Vitebsk Region - Alexander Subbotin Presidential Assistant-Inspector for the Vitebsk Region - Vladimir Yurgevich Head of the Orsha District - Igor Moroz
Also present were representatives of labor collectives, public organizations, youth, and of course, the residents of Orsha, for whom this memory is especially dear.
On June 26, 2025, the Council of Heads of State of the CIS awarded Orsha the high title of "City of Labor Glory". This is a legitimate recognition of the feat accomplished by our compatriots during the harsh years of the war. It is a memory of the great feat performed by the people of Orsha during the difficult years of the Great Patriotic War.
The erection of the memorial stele "Orsha – City of Labor Glory 1941 – 1945" is a tribute to those who stood at the machines day and night, who grew bread on the war-scorched land, who with their selfless labor restored enterprises and resumed work at them, who, being hungry and tired themselves, believed and waited.
- This monument, towering above us, is a tangible embodiment of our deepest gratitude and boundless respect for the feats, both labor and military, accomplished by the residents of Orsha during the harsh years of the Great Patriotic War, - emphasized Alexander Subbotin during the ceremonial opening.
The square will become the starting point for the construction of a new microdistrict in Orsha, where about 4,000 people will live.
