In Orsha, the “Safe Holidays” campaign continues.
The most beloved time continues – summer. Schoolchildren have already spent the first month of vacation. Some went to their grandparents, while others stayed home under the supervision of their parents. But most kids traditionally relax in health and school camps. To make their rest complete and safe, the employees of the Orsha GDSC, together with interested services, conduct the "Safe Holidays" campaign during the summer period.
This time, the rescuers decided to visit the kids from the health camp "Lenok", where about 120 kids of various ages are resting. However, they decided to approach this event in a non-standard way. The gathering of participants was set at the rescue station on Vladimir Korotkevich Street. From there, the rescuers, together with representatives of the OSVOD, GIMS, and the Orsha zonal center for hygiene and epidemiology, set off by boat to visit the kids. A journalist from the "Arshanskaya Gazeta" also joined them. But before that, we went through a mandatory safety briefing.
At the beginning of the campaign, the senior inspector of the propaganda and public relations sector of the Orsha GDSC Nikolai Barash along with the head of the OSVOD rescue station Alexander Savchenko explained to the kids the rules of safe behavior in nature and at home.
They specifically touched on the topic of recreation by the water. In turn, specialists from the Orsha zonal center for hygiene and epidemiology conducted preventive measures aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among children. The most vivid moment of the campaign was traditionally the appearance of a fire truck.
The GDSC employees introduced the kids to the available tools, helped them try on a firefighter's uniform, taught them how to throw a rescue ring to a drowning person, and demonstrated how to extinguish a fire using a fire hose.
In turn, the campers prepared creative performances for the guests, the main theme of which was love for their native land.
However, our adventures did not end there. On our way back, we encountered a fisherman in an inflatable boat. And we certainly could not leave him unattended. According to statistics, 27 people have drowned in Belarus since the beginning of the year. Moreover, several of them while fishing from a boat. We approached closer. The state inspector of the Orsha GIMS section Vladislav Komshakov inquired about the contents of the boat. The man, in turn, demonstrated everything necessary on the list: a life jacket, oars, an anchor, mooring equipment, a bilge pump, as well as a first aid kit and anchor rope. We wish the fisherman no tail and no scales and continue moving. As we approach the beach in the area of Perakopskaya Street, we slow down. The rescuers carefully observe the vacationers. Some are sunbathing on the shore, while others are swimming. We dock and head towards the people. Our main task is to remind the vacationers once again of the safety rules on and near the water, so that their rest is not overshadowed by emergencies. The sunbathers understood this perfectly. They talked to the rescuers about safe behavior and received informational brochures and leaflets as a keepsake. We also visited vacationers on the beach in the area of Vladimir Korotkevich Street.
