A snow sculpture gallery has opened in Orsha.
For the first time in a long while, a snow sculpture competition "Gallery of Snow Wonders" took place in Orsha. It was held at the sports complex "Olympiets" as part of the district winter holiday "Frost Unites" and was dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman.
In recent years, the weather did not allow the competition to be held. However, this year it gifted the residents of Orsha with a truly frosty and snowy winter. Despite the thermometer reading -20, no one was afraid of the cold. Sixteen teams from enterprises, organizations, and educational institutions of the Orsha region showcased their creativity and imagination.
The participants approached the competition with full responsibility. A spatula, shovel, water, watercolor paints – and already figures are emerging from the snow. Teams had only 45 minutes to work. During this time, they had to create their masterpieces from snow. There were all sorts of characters: the cat Matroskin, the Golden Fish, Carlson, Emelya, and many other fairy-tale characters.
A special place in the competition was occupied by the theme of the Year of the Belarusian Woman. Almost half of the snow sculptures were dedicated to it: Snow Guest, Aqualeidi, Matryoshka, Belarusian Woman, Mom, family, children. Each work revealed the beauty, kindness, tenderness, and strength of Belarusian women.
Teams needed not only to create sculptures but also to present a defense in any artistic genre that reflects the idea of creating the figure. The jury evaluated the completeness and expressiveness of the theme's disclosure, the complexity of execution, creativity, originality of design, artistic expressiveness, artistry, and the creative abilities of the participants.
Determining the winner was not easy. Participants sang ditties, songs, and even performed entire theatrical presentations.
According to the results of the competition, the winner was the team from the "Legmash" factory with the sculpture "Stove Belarusian Woman", the second place was taken by the Orsha Central Polyclinic with the composition "Native Roots", and the third place went to the team from the Orsha Flax Plant with the figure "Golden Fish". The winners were awarded diplomas and gifts, while all other participants received diplomas of participation.
