In Orsha, the traffic police held a Unified Day of Road Safety
Traditionally, on the last Friday of the month, the Traffic Police conducts a Unified Day of Road Safety. And today it is held under the slogan "If you caused an accident – take responsibility!" and is dedicated to the prevention of incidents where participants leave the accident scene.
During the campaign, the Traffic Police officers, together with representatives of the insurance company "Belgosstrakh", conducted a special raid, during which they informed drivers about the causes and consequences of road traffic accidents, explained the actions to be taken in case of an accident, checked the availability of first aid kits and emergency stop signs, and also explained the procedure for filling out the European protocol and the conditions under which it can be completed by the participants of the accident.
They also reminded about the responsibility for leaving the accident scene in cases where it is prohibited.
The Traffic Police reminds: according to current legislation, a driver involved in an accident is obliged to immediately stop and not take measures to change the position of the vehicle involved in the accident, turn on the emergency lights, and place the emergency stop sign at least 15 meters from the vehicle in populated areas and 40 meters outside populated areas. If there are injured persons, all necessary measures must be taken to provide them with assistance. An ambulance should be called, and the incident should be reported to the police.
In relation to individuals who have fled the accident scene, both administrative and criminal liability may apply.
The State Traffic Inspectorate appeals to all drivers! Be as attentive as possible when driving any type of vehicle and comply with established rules. In case of an accident, do not leave the scene. It is better to assess the situation soberly and take all necessary measures prescribed by the Traffic Rules.
