In the Orshansky region, the traffic police are conducting activities on the roads in a mixed control regime
Since January 9, employees of the traffic police department of the Orsha district executive committee, together with inspectors from the inter-district traffic police department of the Vitebsk regional executive committee, are conducting raids on the M-8 "Vitebsk-Gomel-Ukraine border" highway in the Orsha district using a mixed control method for road traffic. Their main goal is to stop violations of speed limits.
During such control, one crew is in a civilian vehicle recording violations, while the second is in a service vehicle a few kilometers away. On this highway, the speed limit for passenger cars is 90 km/h. However, not all drivers comply with it. When speeding is detected, the information is transmitted by the first group to the second crew, which is further along the violator's route. Traffic police officers stop drivers who have ignored the established speed limits and carry out further preventive work and hold them accountable.
Since the beginning of the control measures and as of January 16, 103 instances of speed limit violations have been recorded. Six drivers who committed violations repeatedly have been held administratively accountable.
– It is important to remember that the higher the speed, the less time a driver has to react in case of a dangerous situation. Also, speeding leads to an increase in braking distance, which significantly reduces the chance of stopping in time. At high speeds, it is more difficult to control the vehicle, especially during sharp maneuvers or changes in road conditions, – explains the senior inspector for agitation and propaganda of the traffic police department of the Orsha district executive committee Viktoriya Veremyeva. – However, many drivers do not realize that high speed increases the likelihood of serious injuries and fatalities in the event of an accident. Therefore, each of us must understand that adhering to established speed limits is not just a rule, but a responsibility to ourselves and those around us.
