In the Orshansky district, traffic police officers are conducting raids to enforce traffic rules among cyclists.
As of September 1, changes to the Traffic Rules have come into effect. Now, cyclists and individuals using personal mobility devices (PMDs) are required to dismount when crossing the roadway at pedestrian crossings.
The only exceptions are those places where there is a traffic light regulating the movement of cyclists or a special sign regulating the actions of cyclists and PMD users at pedestrian crossings. And while there are no special traffic lights in Orsha, signs have already appeared at some pedestrian crossings. By the way, there are not many such places in our city. In most cases, cyclists will still have to dismount. As practice shows, not everyone has yet mastered the simple safety measures.
In order to enhance the discipline of road traffic participants and to prevent road traffic accidents involving cyclists and PMD users, the traffic police department of the Orsha district executive committee conducts raids on busy streets of the city. Traffic inspectors do not use official vehicles for patrolling and are dressed in civilian clothes.
During the raids, traffic police officers conduct preventive talks with traffic rule violators and explain the current legislation in the field of road safety.
