In unity lies our strength and future. An open online meeting dedicated to the Day of National Unity was held at the Media Center of the Vitebsk Region.

An open online meeting "In Unity, Our Strength and Future" was held at the Media Center of the Vitebsk Region, during which the participants shared their opinions, discussed the history and meaning of one of the youngest holidays of sovereign Belarus — the Day of National Unity.

Experts included the chairperson of the Vitebsk Regional Trade Union Association Elena Nefedova, the head of the information and analytical department of the regional newspaper "Vitebsk News" Svyatoslav Mikhaylov, a history teacher at Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 2, public figure Alexander Dedinkin, and a history teacher at Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 7, lecturer of the "Knowledge" society, winner of the "School of Young Lecturer" project Viktor Lipsky.

- In order to consolidate society, to unite the Belarusian people on the basis of the ideas of sovereignty and independence, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko signed a decree in 2021 to celebrate the Day of National Unity on September 17. This day became an act of historical justice towards the Belarusian people, divided against their will back in 1921, - emphasized Alexander Dedinkin. - I am deeply convinced that September 17, 1939, embodies the final formation of the Belarusian nation, and the proclamation of this date as the Day of National Unity is a philosophical understanding of the unity of the Belarusian people. This date should remind us who we are and where we come from. It should instill pride in our country and the realization that we, Belarusians, are one people.
