A precinct officer is a calling: meeting those who ensure the peace of Orsha's residents
In Belarus, November 17 is celebrated as the Day of the District Police Inspector. This service is rightly considered a training ground for personnel, as it is here that police officers gain invaluable experience in communicating with people and solving a wide range of tasks.
Among the tasks of the district inspector are ensuring the tranquility and safety of citizens in the assigned administrative area, preventing possible violations of the law, monitoring registered and problematic apartments, and much more. Every district police inspector must establish close contact with the population, clearly understand the relevant legislation, and effectively carry out prescribed preventive measures.
On the eve of the holiday, a journalist from the "Arshanskaya Gazeta" spoke with four young officers who ensure the peace of the residents of Orsha in the Ranitza microdistrict every day.
The district police inspector of the Department of Public Order Protection and Prevention of Public Safety of the Orsha District Executive Committee, Senior Lieutenant Vladislav Mustashov has been in the position for just over a year. In his school years, he faced a choice: to connect his life with the armed forces or law enforcement agencies. He chose the latter. Now, a graduate of the Mogilev Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs admits that he has found exactly what he was looking for in his profession.
– What I like most about my job is communicating with people, – Vladislav shared. – It also provides food for creativity. Jokes often arise right during work moments, so I write them down. Perhaps someday this material will be useful for performances in a stand-up format.
It turns out that Vladislav played in the KVN team "Mentality" while in the institute. One of Vladislav's hobbies now is football.
Lieutenant Mikhail Senkevich joined the police in 2022 and became a district inspector in 2024. His path to the police was long: after the Vitebsk College of Communications and service in the border troops, his fate was decided by a meeting with a friend.
– I was interested in the service because of a friend who studied at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, – Mikhail recounts. – He spoke so passionately about the work that I also became "fired up" about serving in the police. Now the job takes a lot of time, but I do not regret my choice.
In his rare free hours, Mikhail is interested in modern computer technologies.
Senior Lieutenant Maxim Gavrilov is a person with diverse interests. A graduate of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he started studying at the Orsha Mechanical and Economic College with a specialization in "law studies." But even from his school days, his life was filled with music.
– In secondary school No. 8 in Orsha, I was passionate about playing wind instruments, I played in the orchestra on the trumpet, – recalls Maxim. – Music still attracts me; it disciplines and teaches me to feel the rhythm.
Lieutenant Vladislav Korchavets is a unique example. By education, he is an English teacher, having graduated from the Orsha College of the Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov. But a childhood dream proved stronger.
– The police is my childhood dream, – says Vladislav. – And I have never regretted that I went to serve right after college. It is a good school of life, where everyone has the opportunity to show themselves and achieve a lot.
He is currently continuing his studies at the Mogilev Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by correspondence. His sports interests – boxing and hand-to-hand combat, where he even became a republic prizewinner in Thai boxing during his school years – have become a great support in his work.
Despite their different fates and interests, these young people are united by one thing: the desire to serve the people and ensure order in their area. On their professional holiday, we wish them calm duties and grateful residents.
