In the Vitebsk region, from May 20 to 22, an oblast tourist camp for students will take place, gathering about 500 schoolchildren from across the region. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth (VODDiM).
The event will kick off in Vitebsk on May 20 with a patriotic event. "At 11:00 AM at Victory Square near the memorial complex in honor of the liberators, partisans, and underground fighters of Vitebsk region, a memorial meeting will take place. The participants of the tourist camp will lay flowers at the Eternal Flame, and words of encouragement will be spoken for them. Overall, the entire tourist camp will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. 22 teams from the entire northern region will participate in the event, which amounts to about 500 kids. All of them have passed the district stages and made it to the regional round," VODDiM noted.
Then, young tourism enthusiasts will move to the village of Malye Lettsy, where competitions will take place on Lake Shevino for three days.
The program of the tourist camp includes both sports and competitive components. Boys and girls will need to demonstrate their skills in tourist-applied multi-event competitions, techniques of hiking and cycling tourism, as well as showcase their skills in sports orienteering.
As for the competitive component, participants of the tourist camp will need to present a business card - to introduce their team, briefly telling about themselves, while using an interesting presentation style. Local historians will compete for the title of the best in the "Heroic Vitebsk" stage, while talented artists will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in the wall newspaper contest "Camp Days." Teams will also need to demonstrate their skills in tourist life.
Based on the results of the tourist camp, the jury will select a team that will defend the honor of the Vitebsk region in the republican final scheduled for June.
