Создание "белорусского НАСА", или собственного космического агентства, стало темой совещания у Лукашенко

The creation of a "Belarusian NASA", or its own space agency, became the topic of a meeting with Lukashenko.

The creation of a national space agency in the country became one of the topics of the meeting of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, reports a BELTA correspondent.
The head of state reminded that even during the Soviet era, a space industry with a significant component in the fields of defense, science, communication, and other areas was established in Belarus.

"Over the years of sovereign development, we have made significant progress in these areas, especially now, under sanctions. We are working on the creation of a Russian-Belarusian remote sensing satellite with ultra-high resolution. Almost all the most important components of such a satellite are being created in Belarus and are being placed on a Russian platform," said the President. "At the same time, a large part of the target equipment is manufactured by our 'Pelenг'. Three space programs of the Union State are currently under development."
Currently, the main functions of regulating space activities are performed by the National Academy of Sciences. This means that the management system is functioning at the moment.

"The question is simple: what is wrong or insufficient about the existing management structure? Is it capable of fully considering and participating in international programs? And what will we gain from the creation of a 'Belarusian NASA'? Will the effect be comparable to the costs of a new organization and its maintenance?" - outlined the key topics for discussion Alexander Lukashenko.
