For the residents of the Orsha region, this is a very dear date. The name of Uladzimir Karatkevich is known to almost every Orsha resident since childhood. And not only because the writer was born and lived in Orsha. The main thing is that everyone understands that he is a titan of Belarusian literature, his talent is deep, genuine, and multifaceted. Just as genuine as the people's love for his works.
During the week of remembrance in the Orsha region, a series of events dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the classic of Belarusian literature is taking place, aimed at preserving his creative legacy. An exhibition titled "Funds of the Orsha Museum" has been organized at the U. Karatkevich Museum, where photographs, books, and gifts from the family and friends of Uladzimir Syamonovich can be seen. An exhibition of a single item, "In memoriam. Stopped Time," is also on display, featuring the posthumous mask of our famous countryman. The museum's social media features publications dedicated to the life and work of Uladzimir Karatkevich, as well as rare photographs of the writer and his quotes. The name of the native of the homeland resonates at numerous events within the walls of the cultural institutions of the Orsha centralized library system.
As per tradition, on the memorial day, a literary gathering was held at the U. Karatkevich Museum, which began near the monument to the famous countryman, established on the banks of the Dnieper. There gathered admirers of Uladzimir Karatkevich's work, led by the head of the ideological work and youth affairs department of the Orsha district executive committee Maria Shmatava, the director of the museum complex of history and culture of the Orsha region Yuliya Kamarova, the head of the Orsha U. Karatkevich Museum Nastasya Korban, and members of the literary association "Dnieper Voices." They laid fresh flowers at the obelisk. During the meeting, they sincerely reminisced about the writer, also mentioning that our land, our Belarus, has become not only a homeland but also an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Uladzimir Karatkevich.
