Today, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, during a working trip to the Vitebsk region, visited the Orsha forest farm, reports a BELTA correspondent.

The President worked in his small homeland - in the agrotown Kopyść, a prototype of the "village of the future" from the program of the same name. Here is the woodworking site No. 2 of the Orsha forestry.

The President was informed about providing the forestry with modern logging equipment, and the woodworking industry with raw materials. One of the topics was the work on restoring the forest fund and protecting the forest from fires.

For the visit of the head of state, an exhibition of domestic logging equipment and tools for logging was presented at the enterprise.

Last year, Belarusian forestry enterprises harvested 19.8 million cubic meters of marketable timber, which is 108% of the level of 2023. Timber harvesting is planned based on the existing needs of the republic's enterprises. In the first quarter of this year, 5 million cubic meters of timber were harvested.

Logging machines in Belarus are produced by the companies "AMKODOR" and MTZ (OAO "Mozyr Machine-Building Plant"). Thanks to the ongoing systematic work on updating the machine and tractor fleet, and the purchase of new modern logging equipment of domestic production, last year it was possible to achieve a mechanized harvesting rate of a record 65% of the total harvesting volume.
