Today the Orthodox Church celebrates the day of the Orsha icon of the Mother of God
By the blessing of the Archbishop of Vitebsk and Orsha Dimitry and with the support of the Orsha District Executive Committee, a traditional cross procession took place in honor of the holiday.
The visit of the Bishop of Druya, the vicar of the Vitebsk Diocese Yevsevy, who led the festive service, added special solemnity to this event. The event reflected a significant occasion – the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The prayer procession began at the Holy Trinity Men's Monastery and concluded at the hillfort. It was attended by clergy, Orthodox believers, residents, and guests of the Orsha region. Near the memorial sign, where an icon was installed, a prayer service was held, after which Bishop Yevsevy congratulated everyone on the holiday and wished heavenly intercession from the Queen of Heaven.
At the end, the cross bearers carried the icon over the people who received the blessing of the Queen of Heaven. At the conclusion of the cross procession, the icon of the Orsha Most Holy Theotokos was returned back to the left bank of the Dnieper River to the Trinity Church.
Currently, at the Trinity Church, an akathist is read before the miraculous image of the Mother of God on Saturdays, and a moleben is served daily.
