Preventive campaign “Safe New Year” starts in the region
From December 15, 2025, to January 7, 2026, a traditional large-scale preventive campaign "Safe New Year" will take place in the region. Its main goal is to remind residents about safety rules during the holidays, when the risk of fires and injuries due to careless handling of pyrotechnics, violations of electrical equipment operation rules, and heating systems increases sharply.
As part of the campaign, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, volunteers, and activists will conduct raids to check the fire safety status of private households and venues for mass events. Special attention will be paid to large families, lonely pensioners, and citizens in socially dangerous situations. Thematic safety lessons are planned in schools and kindergartens, educational meetings in labor collectives, as well as mass events in open areas, ice rinks, and shopping centers. There will be Ministry of Emergency Situations booths where contests and quizzes will take place. Rescuers will also remind that pyrotechnics are products for adults only and should be used only in accordance with the instructions.
Special attention will be paid to the promotion of autonomous fire alarms (AFA). This small but vital device operates independently of external power sources and networks, capable of detecting the slightest concentration of smoke at the earliest stage of a fire and emitting a powerful sound signal. Installed in living rooms, especially in homes with heating systems and in apartments where people with limited mobility reside, the AFA becomes a reliable "watchman," capable of waking sleeping people and giving them precious minutes to escape. Rescuers strongly recommend checking the operability of existing alarms (replacing batteries) and considering their installation if it has not been done yet – such a simple precaution often prevents tragedy.
Participants in the campaign urge all residents to celebrate the holidays not only joyfully but also safely. Remember that your attentiveness and adherence to simple rules are the key to a happy New Year for you and your loved ones. In case of any emergency, immediately call 101 or 112.
