We looked at how students live in the dormitory of the Orsha college branch of BelGUT

"Those who have not lived in a dormitory have not seen student life" – a phrase that can be heard from almost every out-of-town student. It is hard to disagree with it. It is in dormitories that college students and university students spend most of their time: communicating, helping each other with studies, cooking, and having fun.

And to study well, comfortable living conditions are needed. A journalist from the "Arshanskaya Gazeta" looked at how students live in the dormitory of the Orsha College-Branch of BelGUT. It is located literally 20 meters from the academic building. A very big plus for those who love to sleep a little longer. The journey from the room to the classrooms takes just a few minutes.

– We started the renovation of the dormitory in 2024. We completed work on insulating the roof and facade of the building, modernizing the roofing, replaced windows, renovated the corridor on the first floor, and all rooms on the fifth floor. In 2025, we renovated all the premises on the first and fourth floors, as well as all the kitchens. The corridor on the fourth floor has also improved for the better. We will not stop here. Landscaping will continue, – said the college director Elena Kozlova.

The dormitory has a medical station, a psychologist's office, a self-study room, showers, and even a comfortable sofa in the foyer. In general, everything for the comfort of students. We also talked to them.

So, Valeria Zhiltseva from the Gomel region is studying in the third year in the specialty "organization of transportation by rail." The girl really likes the living conditions; everything necessary for life is available. Together with her, two other people live in the room.

Moreover, Valeria is the dormitory's head girl. She helps the educators check the order in the rooms, controls the duty schedule in the kitchen, maintains records of the sanitary condition of the living quarters, and organizes leisure activities.

– We try to maintain cleanliness in the dormitory. After all, it has already become our second home. Every day, students do wet cleaning in their rooms, and on Thursdays, a general cleaning, – shared Valeria Zhiltseva.

The guys do not lag behind the girls either. Roman Sukhovarov from Borisov enjoys life in the dormitory. The guy also strives to make it better here.

– I am very pleased to have ended up here. We live comfortably and have fun, – emphasized Roman.

Additionally, the guys run their own page on TikTok. Third-year student Anastasia Milochkina from the city of Horki happily showed videos in which students talk about life in the dormitory.

– We already have almost 6,900 subscribers and thousands of views, – the girl noted with pride. – Subscribe too, and give likes.

In general, living in the dormitory is still fun and interesting. Of course, you need to adhere to certain strict rules, but the atmosphere is very comfortable.
