Until February 4, the traffic police in the Orshansky district are holding a preventive event "Behind the wheel – not connected!"
In order to enhance safety, eliminate distracting and attention-reducing factors while operating vehicles, on February 4, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Department of the Orsha District Executive Committee is conducting a republican preventive event "Behind the Wheel - Not on the Phone!".
The traffic police units have intensified control over compliance with the rules of using radio and telephone communication while driving, including using the capabilities of the republican public safety monitoring system and covert traffic control.
According to the traffic rules, it is prohibited for the driver to use a radio or telephone communication device, or any other devices not provided for by the vehicle's design, while driving if it requires holding them in hand or operating them with a hand. Violation of this requirement entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of up to 2 basic units.
Drivers, remember that holding a phone in your hands prevents you from adequately responding to emergency situations on the road, thereby endangering not only your safety but also the safety of other road users.
Also, in order to prevent serious traffic accidents, on January 31, a Unified Day of Road Safety will take place in the Orsha region under the slogan "The Road Does Not Forgive Mistakes!".
Last year, 40 traffic accidents were registered in the region, resulting in 13 fatalities (including two children) and 35 injuries. This year, there have been three accidents involving pedestrians and one traffic accident in which one driver died and another was injured.
During the Unified Day of Road Safety, the traffic police will organize preventive work in labor collectives and educational institutions, and there will be raids to stop gross violations of traffic rules by both drivers and pedestrians.
The State Traffic Inspectorate calls on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules and to pay increased attention on the road!
