Pezheskian arrived at the Independence Palace for talks with Lukashenko
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, arrived at the Palace of Independence for talks with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, reports a BELTA correspondent.
A ceremonial meeting with the participation of an honor guard took place in the inner courtyard of the Palace of Independence. The national anthems of both countries were played, after which Alexander Lukashenko and Masoud Pezeshkian headed to the Hall of Ceremonies for a joint photo session.
It is expected that the presidents will discuss cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade, investment, and industrial cooperation, the implementation of joint initiatives in science, technology, and education, as well as the interaction of states within international structures, including the EAEU, SCO, BRICS, and the UN. Issues of regional and international security will also be in focus.
The dynamics of foreign trade between Belarus and Iran over the past five years has shown growth. In 2020, the trade turnover was at the level of $24.7 million, and by 2024 it exceeded $113 million. In January - June of this year, the trade turnover amounted to $74.4 million, increasing by 33.6% compared to the same period last year.
