The ferry crossing over the Dnieper River, which linked the Shklovsky and Orshansky districts, will become another symbol of the festival "Alexandria gathers friends".
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this at the holiday "Kupalle" ("Alexandria Gathers Friends").
The head of state emphasizes:
— Everything that was created on our native land hundreds of years ago, everything we are trying to preserve today — ancient rituals, crafts, holidays — these are our roots.
For them to be stronger, it is important not only to cherish what we have preserved but also to revive what has been lost, the President stressed. He reminded that exactly a year ago he instructed to restore the ferry crossing for today's festival opening, which will connect the Shklov and Orsha districts across the Dnieper River:
— Its launch is also a tribute to historical tradition. The residents of Shklov region know well that the right bank of the Dnieper has long been famous for its fairs. It was more than just trade. Life was bustling there, including cultural and creative life, filled with emotions. I am convinced that this crossing will become another symbol of the festival, connecting people and eras. Bridges are what unite people.
