The parliaments of Belarus and Lebanon will sign a memorandum of understanding

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov met with the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Lebanese Republic Nabih Berri, BELTA reports.

These days, the Vice-Speaker is visiting Beirut as part of a government delegation. During the conversation with the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon, it was noted that our country attaches great importance to the development of traditionally friendly relations with Lebanon, which is one of Belarus's important partners in the Middle East.

"We are interested in expanding political, economic, and humanitarian ties between Minsk and Beirut, which meets the interests of the peoples of both states. Belarusian deputies are committed to strengthening ties with Lebanon on platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and on a bilateral basis," noted Vadim Ipatov.

To activate inter-parliamentary cooperation, the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives proposed to consider the issue of signing a memorandum of understanding between the parliaments of both countries and to resume the work of friendship parliamentary groups.

"We agreed to work on the legal foundations of our cooperation. In particular, the conversation was about preparing and subsequently concluding a memorandum of understanding. This is like a roadmap: how our parliamentary corps and the parliamentary corps of the Lebanese Republic will build relationships that will enhance cooperation in the economy and other areas," emphasized Vadim Ipatov.

Speaking about the significant potential for successful development of trade and economic cooperation, the Vice-Speaker invited Lebanese businessmen to participate in major international exhibition and congress events in our country.

At the end of the meeting, an invitation was handed to the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Lebanese Republic Nabih Berri to visit Belarus at the head of a parliamentary delegation on an official visit.
