Training of engineering personnel, cooperation with China, implementation of AI: highlights of the new academic year in the Arshany district
The holidays are over. The corridors of the renovated schools filled with children's voices, and the bell once again called students to class. The head of the education department of the Orsha district executive committee, Tatyana Yankovskaya, shared plans for the new school year with the correspondent of the "Teacher's Newspaper".
— The teachers of the Orsha region welcomed the new school year with a wonderful working mood, new hopes, and expectations. Much has been done in the district to prepare educational institutions for September 1. About 3 million rubles were allocated for these purposes. Cosmetic repairs were carried out in each institution. In secondary schools No. 21 and No. 6, and in kindergarten No. 1 of Orsha, the food blocks were renovated, where technological and auxiliary equipment was purchased and installed. The replacement of asphalt covering and fencing of educational institutions is underway. The procedures for purchasing educational equipment and computer technology continue. As part of the preparation for the district holiday "Dazhynki", which will take place in the agrotown Smalyany, the district Council of Deputies allocated additional funding for the renovation of the kindergarten and secondary school. The facades, dining room, and foyer will be updated there. The sports ground will have modern covering. Everything is being done to create favorable conditions for students for studying and leisure.
Understanding the importance of engineering personnel for the country and its region, we consciously increase the number of engineering classes. Two engineering and technical centers have been opened in the district (in secondary school No. 17 and the Orsha district center for children and youth), where classes are held for both engineering class students and other schoolchildren for career guidance purposes. It is pleasant that enterprises also understand the role of these centers and conduct joint activities with children and teachers. This year we will strive to expand this work.
Confidently, we need to focus on concluding contracts for targeted training of specialists. By the way, this year 22 targeted contracts were concluded with the P.M. Masherov VDU and 13 with the Orsha College of the P.M. Masherov VDU for the training of teaching staff.
The district has accumulated certain experience in working with unmanned aerial vehicles. A neuro-piloting laboratory has been created at the Orsha district center for children and youth. Therefore, a new elective course, where children will learn to operate quadcopters, has come in very handy. Initially, we will teach the teachers this skill, and then the schoolchildren. We have secured support from the RUIS, and in cooperation with the patriotic club, we have already thought about how to organize this work.
We plan to continue international cooperation with China this year. Chinese language is taught in three schools in the district. In the summer, we hosted a delegation from the PRC, which was presented with a wide cultural and educational program. The guests left with bright impressions of our country. Secondary school No. 16 of Orsha concluded a contract with Dalian University, under which those children who master the language of the Celestial Empire at the required level will be able to study on a budget basis in the PRC. Therefore, there is something to strive for.
We will also work on the professional development of teachers. Now each district teaching and methodological association of teachers has been tasked with creating a problem group for the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies. This is a relevant topic that raises many debates and questions. We hope that our teachers will skillfully and beneficially use the capabilities of artificial intelligence in their activities.
In preschool educational institutions, we continue to actively create a safe environment. We hope that the resource center opened in kindergarten No. 46 for organizing safe conditions for preschoolers will truly become a district center, where educational activities will be conducted for students, teachers, and parents. We really want to convey the topic of injury prevention clearly to every participant in the educational process.
A pressing issue today is the prevention of family dysfunction. This year we are focusing on preschool educational institutions. The issue of early detection of such families is very relevant. Heads of preschool educational institutions must understand: the sooner we see signs of dysfunction and take certain measures, the higher the likelihood that the family will have a chance to return to normal life and we will not face issues of protecting the rights and interests of children.
