Оршанцы приняли участие в патриотической акции «Прорыв Победы» в Ушачах

Orsha residents took part in the patriotic action "Victory Breakthrough" in Ushachi

At the memorial complex "Breakthrough" in Ushachi, with the participation of the leadership of the Vitebsk region, delegations from all districts and cities of the region, guests from the Smolensk and Pskov regions of Russia, and Kazakhstan, a patriotic event "Breakthrough of Victory" took place. It was dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the breakthrough of the enemy blockade by partisans of the Polotsk-Lepel zone.

The delegation of the Orsha district, headed by the chairman of the district executive committee Igor Moroz and the chairman of the district Council of Deputies Inna Khomutovskaya, also participated in the events.
Before the start of the solemn meeting at the memorial complex "Breakthrough", thematic platforms, exhibitions, and photo zones were set up, a mobile museum was present, and there were demonstration performances by military personnel. Everyone willing could try real soldier's porridge and purchase souvenirs.

Opening the patriotic event, the chairman of the Vitebsk regional executive committee Alexander Subbotin emphasized the symbolic significance of the meeting at this memorial complex:

– On the eve of Victory Day, we gathered at the memorial "Breakthrough" to pay tribute and respect to those who fought and worked for the good of our Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. This land, where the blood of our fathers and grandfathers was shed, has become a symbol of courage and resilience, – emphasized the head of the region. – The breakthrough of the enemy blockade by partisans of the Polotsk-Lepel zone is a unique phenomenon in the history of the partisan movement in Belarus. With the help of a well-armed sixty-thousand-strong grouping consisting of twelve German SS and police regiments, parts of five infantry divisions, airfield and three security divisions, the fascists planned to eliminate the partisan zone in five days. But instead of five, the blockade ring tightened for 25 days, partisans fought heavy bloody battles, exhausting the enemy's forces, drawing more and more units of the German troops to themselves. The significance of their feat cannot be overestimated. The breakthrough contributed to the subsequent success of the Vitebsk-Orsha and especially Polotsk offensive operations during the liberation of Belarus.

The memory of the heroic feat of our ancestors is the foundation of the spiritual unity of the Belarusian people. It is symbolic that in the ranks of one of the partisan detachments, the ring of the blockade was broken by a scout, a native of Smolensk region, Mikhail Yegorov, who later raised the Banner of Victory over the Reichstag.

Alexander Subbotin thanked the representatives of the Russian delegation who supported the event.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Smolensk regional Duma Igor Lyakhov emphasized in his speech that the main lessons of the Great Victory are the lessons of unity and solidarity of peoples in the face of violence and enslavement.

About the fact that we are the heirs of Victory and must be even closer friends so that war never repeats itself, spoke the head of the Ushachi district Sergey Sadovsky:

– Participation in the event confirms our eternal gratitude to those who fearlessly fought, defended their homeland, and gifted us a peaceful sky. In the Ushachi district, proper care is taken of the memory of those who died for the Fatherland.

The participants of the solemn meeting honored the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence, laid wreaths and flowers. Then the event continued with a festive concert "In the Name of Peace on Earth" featuring creative teams from Vitebsk region. The Orsha district was represented by the folk ensemble of folk songs "Gagarinsky Myzyki", the show group "Alliance", the choreographic group "Non Stop", and soloists from the folk singing studio "Creative".
