Orsha residents opened the bike season

In Orsha, the opening of the cycling season dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War took place.

Cycling enthusiasts gathered at the starting point – the "Lokomotiv" stadium. At the beginning of the event, participants of the bike ride laid flowers at the monument near the K. S. Zaslonov Military-Historical Museum. After that, the cyclists listened to a safety briefing from the traffic police and the organizers. Then, accompanied by traffic police cars, they proceeded through the city at a leisurely pace. They rode along the streets: Vasily Molokov, Mira, Vladimir Lenin, Soviet, Textile Workers, 60 Years of BSSR, Voz-An-Vlen, Mogilev, Krasnoarmeyskaya, Francysk Skaryna. The final point on the route was the sports park in the Kuteinki area, where the main sports events of the day took place. It is worth noting that the total length of the route was over 12 kilometers.

For all lovers of two-wheeled transport, the organizers prepared various contests and races. To participate, it was necessary to register. The sports battles traditionally began with a children's bike race in the age category of 7-9 years. Each participant received a commemorative medal and a sweet prize prepared by the organizers.

At the same time, a field kitchen with aromatic tea and soldier's porridge, food trucks operated on the site. For those who preferred more relaxed entertainment, the BRSM organized an interactive area.

Then, children's races were held in the age categories of 10-13 and 14-17 years. However, perhaps the most spectacular were the "Not a Children's Race", "Velo Drag Racing", and "Who is Slower". Traditionally, all winners of the races were awarded medals and gifts.

The organizers of the physical culture and health holiday were the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Orsha District Executive Committee and the company "Velodrive" – enthusiasts of their work who have been promoting cycling in the region for over a decade.
