Orsha Power Plant is conducting hydraulic tests

A video of a fountain of water gushing from the ground near the central market of Orsha has spread on social media. Our vigilant subscribers immediately became concerned that an accident had occurred. We hasten to reassure that there is no cause for alarm.

The head of the RTS Orsha CHPP Vyacheslav Pozharitsky reported that, according to the approved schedule, hydraulic tests of the thermal main TM-05 are being conducted from August 13 to 26, which runs from Soviet Street to Lenin Street through the entire central part of the city. During these tests, a rupture occurred in the section of the thermal main running under the parking lot behind the sports medicine dispensary, resulting in a column of water.

These planned tests are conducted under increased pressure to identify possible defects in the pipeline before the heating season. During this work, a section of the pipeline ruptured, causing water to gush onto the street under pressure. No one was injured. The rupture was eliminated in the shortest possible time.

A similar incident occurred today on the thermal main TM-02, which connects the Orsha CHPP and the Orsha-Eastern boiler house on Pogranichnaya Street. As a result of the same tests, a rupture of the pipeline occurred, and water flowed onto the street. The staff promptly shut off the damaged section, and repair work is currently underway.
