Orsha. On the guard of the water's surface

Raids are being conducted on the water bodies of the Orsha district by the Orsha city district department for emergency situations, the state inspection for small vessels, OSVOD workers, and activists of the youth law enforcement squad.

Summer is in full swing, which means that the shores of the water bodies and forest areas of the Orsha district have become a magnet for vacationers. The heat lures people to the cool water and forest thickets, but along with the joy of relaxation come serious risks. To ensure that summer recreation does not turn into a tragedy, the "Summer Patrol" campaign is taking place in recreational areas, during which joint raids are conducted by a team of professionals.

The patrol routes pass through the most popular and potentially dangerous recreational spots: the banks of the Dnieper, the Shchetinka quarries, and forest areas. The main task is to explain the rules of safe behavior on the water and to prevent fires in the forests. Special attention is paid to children being near water without adult supervision. Rescuers remind citizens that even in specially organized places or in shallow water, a child should never be left alone!

"You cannot relax by the water for even a minute," emphasizes Alexander Savchenko, head of the Orsha water rescue station. The most common and dangerous mistake is overconfidence. People swim in unfamiliar places where there may be strong currents and submerged logs. Or, even worse, they swim far out while under the influence of alcohol. Our task is to prevent disaster, explain, and convince citizens to follow personal safety measures. Each such raid is a chance to save someone's life."

Senior inspector of the propaganda and public interaction sector of the Orsha city district department for emergency situations Nikolai Barash explains the specifics of visiting water bodies and forest areas, reminds about the ban on visiting forests during the fire hazard period, and discusses the rules to follow when making a fire in a campfire or barbecue.

State inspector of the Orsha section of the State Inspection for Small Vessels Vladislav Komshakov explains to boat operators the most common mistakes when using vessels on the water surface, and also holds citizens accountable for administrative violations when they are detected.

A significant support in conducting patrols is the assistance of activists from the youth law enforcement squad, consisting of members of the Youth Public Organization of Rescuers and Firefighters. They easily find common ground with their peers and young families, clearly explaining the rules and disseminating useful information through leaflets.
