Dive safely!
Soon, Orthodox Christians will celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Many will perform the ritual of immersion in the hole. To ensure everything goes safely, there are several simple recommendations:
You should immerse yourself in specially equipped holes near the shore, definitely close to rescue stations, under the supervision of rescuers. Approach the hole in comfortable, non-slip, and easily removable footwear to prevent loss of sensitivity in your legs. It is better to use boots or woolen socks. When walking to the hole, remember that the path may be slippery. Walk slowly and carefully. It is best to immerse yourself up to your neck without wetting your head to avoid reflex narrowing of the blood vessels in the brain. Never dive into the hole! Enter the water slowly, remember that there is a current under the ice that can pull you under. Do not stay in the water for more than 1 minute to avoid general hypothermia. After bathing, rub yourself with a terry towel and put on dry clothes. After bathing, drink hot tea from a pre-prepared thermos.
In bathing (immersion) areas, it is prohibited to:
-bathe while intoxicated;
-perform actions related to diving and swimming underwater, shout false alarms;
-gather in groups on the ice at the edge of the hole;
-go beyond the barriers.
Children are allowed to bathe only with parents or adult relatives!
