The common memory is alive. Delegations of the Vitebsk and Pskov regions met at the Friendship Kurgan.
The Mound of Friendship has become the site of the annual international meeting of veterans of the partisan movement, who fought against the Nazi occupiers during the Great Patriotic War, for the 66th time, on the border of three republics: Belarus, Russia, and Latvia.
Delegations and residents of border areas from neighboring states gathered at this sacred place to pay tribute to the heroism of the Great Patriotic War heroes, partisans, and underground fighters, as well as to the peaceful citizens who became victims of the genocide of the peoples of the former Soviet Union. On the 81st anniversary of the liberation of our country from the German-Fascist invaders and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the people of different ages and nationalities gathered here once again recalled the years of joint struggle against the enemy, inspiring the youth with their personal example for devoted service to the Motherland, and how to cherish traditions and strengthen cooperation between nations. Time has proven that our strength lies in our unity. The understanding of this by the participants of the meeting was evident in the number of delegations and participants, as well as in the friendly atmosphere on both sides of the state border between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
The Belarusian delegation was represented by the chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, the President's assistant – inspector for the Vitebsk region Vladimir Yurgevich, the chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov, other officials, representatives of labor collectives, and the public.
