A new memory object will appear in Orsha!

April 26, 2026 - the day of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster and the beginning of the liquidation of its consequences, which became a tragic milestone in the history of the Soviet Union, affecting millions of people, changing the fates of over 600 thousand liquidators of the disaster.  

This year, a solemn opening of a memorial zone dedicated to the heroes-liquidators of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster is planned in our city 

In 2025, the project initiators did a tremendous amount of work:  

✅ developed a sketch project of the memorial sign

✅ held a competition among authors

✅ coordinated the decision with the National Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus

✅ produced the memorial sign itself — all thanks to civic initiative!  

This memorial zone is not just a symbol. It is a deep tribute of respect:  

to those who gave their lives saving others

to those whose health was compromised for future generations

to all whose fate was forever changed on April 26, 1986.

May the memory live on. May the feat not be forgotten
