Rally at the memorial sign to Soviet soldiers
Today, a solemn rally was held at the memorial sign for the heroes of the Great Patriotic War – Makeev E.A. and Yurchenko A.S.
It was here, on June 27, 1944, that the soldiers of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army displayed unparalleled courage, engaging in a fierce battle with the retreating German-fascist invaders who were attempting to blow up a strategically important railway bridge over the Dnieper River. Thanks to their heroism, it was possible to preserve a key transport artery, which contributed to the successful offensive of the Soviet troops.
Representatives of the authorities, labor collectives, public organizations, and youth participated in the event.
Speeches were made by: Maria Shmatova, head of the ideological work and youth affairs department, and Dmitry Zhuk, director of the "Orsha CHPP" branch of the Republican Unitary Enterprise of Electric Power "VitebskEnergo".
They emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and passing it on to future generations so that the heroism of Soviet soldiers is never forgotten.
As part of the republican public project "Let's Preserve History", initiated by the public association "Patriots of Belarus" with the support of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, an information plaque with a QR code was installed at the memorial sign. This project aims to digitize monuments and military burials, allowing every citizen to learn details about the heroes and events of the war through modern technologies.
The rally concluded with a moment of silence and the laying of flowers at the memorial sign. Participants honored the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our Motherland.
The heroism of Makeev E.A. and Yurchenko A.S. is not just a page of history; it is an example of courage and devotion to the Motherland that will live on for centuries!
No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten!
