Meeting at the site of the first Katyusha salvo: earth from the Orsha region will be sent to the Hero's homeland

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, a solemn rally took place at the historic site of the first salvo of the legendary rocket launcher "Katyusha". The event was attended by representatives of the authorities, law enforcement agencies, public organizations, and youth patriotic associations.

The central event of the rally was the ceremony of taking soil into a memorial capsule from the place where the first salvo of "Katyusha" thundered in July 1941.

This honorable mission was carried out by:

Sergey Nikolaevich Meleshkin, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, head of the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations;

Inna Viktorovna Khomutovskaya, chairwoman of the Orsha District Council of Deputies.

The capsule with Orsha soil will be sent to the Pskov region, the village of Idritsa in the Sebezh district – to the homeland of the Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Alekseevich Egorov, who raised the Banner of Victory over the Reichstag. This symbolic gesture will be part of the 50th anniversary international motor rally "Roads of War – Roads of Victory," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of liberation from Nazism.

The event was also attended by:

Andrey Olegovich Kuryatnikov, head of the Orsha city district department for emergency situations

representatives of the "White Russia" party;

members of the military-patriotic club "Memory" of the State Educational Institution "Gymnasium No. 1 of Orsha named after G.V. Semyonov."

The speakers emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and passing on the heroic legacy to the younger generation.

On April 29, 2025, a large-scale motor rally will start from the city of Disna (Mior District), which will pass through the places of military glory, connecting Belarus and Russia with a common memory of the feat of the Soviet people.

The memory of the war lives not only in memorials but also in such actions that unite generations. The Orsha land, soaked in history, will become yet another symbol of gratitude to the heroes of the Great Victory.
