Master classes, a creative meeting and the exhibition "Pages of Victory". The Vitebsk Region pavilion was presented at the XXXII Day of Belarusian Literacy in Lida.
For the XXXII Day of Belarusian Writing in Lida, the Vitebsk region presented its pavilions. Guests of the holiday were amazed by traditional crafts from three districts of the northern region, an exhibition of the regional newspaper "Pages of Victory," and a creative meeting with writers from the Dvina region.
In the first hours, the hearts of the townspeople and guests of Lida were captured by a master class on creating engravings.
The interactive allows visitors to get acquainted with the history of the oldest city in Belarus – Polotsk.
An estamp (from already prepared engraving plates) featuring the main symbols of Polotsk is offered to create for everyone interested by the senior researcher of the Polotsk Art Gallery, Alesya Avrusenya. The machine brought to the exhibition by Polotsk specialists is created based on a prototype of 17th-century equipment.
The Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevich participated in the engraving master class. As a keepsake from Vitebsk region, she was offered to make an estamp featuring the image of the St. Sophia Cathedral.
In addition, the branch of the Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve presented facsimile editions of "Apostle," "Psalter," and "Small Travel Book" for all book lovers.
Many visitors to the crafts exhibition want to keep the motanka beads as a souvenir.
– We are pleased with the attention to our master class from children. My masters are already afraid that they will have to buy more threads, even though the pavilion has just opened, – admits the head of the Dokshitsy House of Crafts, Inna Karpeka.
In addition to the master class on making jewelry, everyone interested can try their hand at patchwork sewing.
From Dokshitsy, folk craftsmen brought works of artistic carving, decorative baskets, wicker baskets, and bags made of willow. Among the exhibition, visitors pay attention to the collection of towels and straw products.
By the way, straw weaving and fabric painting in the Dokshitsy district are included in the list of intangible cultural heritage.
– They say that nothing interests our children – our master class proves that this is not true, – believes craftsman Viktor Dudkevich from Glubokoe. By the way, especially for the XXXII Day of Belarusian Writing, the craftsman prepared a print dedicated to this year's writing holiday and invites everyone interested to leave an image as a keepsake.
Also, the Glubokoe masters brought embroidery on filet mesh, master classes on cut-out and small painting.
Pottery weaving with birch bark is demonstrated by craftsmen from Sharkovshchina. Men are particularly interested in the finished products, eagerly asking the master to share the technology of work.
Viktoria Dubovskaya shows young visitors how to make a straw stork in half an hour with her help.
Visitors could immerse themselves in the northern region at a creative meeting with writers from the Vitebsk region.
More than 10 authors from the region presented their works, including Tamara Krasnova-Husachenko, Nikolai Namestnikov, Svetlana Yakubovskaya, Tatiana Kharitonova, Vasily Koltunov, Igor Prokopovich, and others. The writers read works from their collections for the guests of the holiday and gladly left autographs.
Little Nastya received a children's book "Long Live the Sun!" as a gift from the Orsha writer Sergey Trofimov. The girl came to the holiday with her mother.
– We have already managed to receive some nice little gifts as keepsakes. My daughter beamed with a smile when the author himself gifted her a collection. There is a special atmosphere of creativity at the Vitebsk region's venue. This is exactly how I imagine your region, – said Nastya's mother.
Another pleasant surprise for the Minister of Information Marat Markov and Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Petkevich was prepared by the chairwoman of the regional branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Tamara Krasnova-Husachenko.
As a gift, the honored guests received her anniversary 30th poetry book "The Times Have Come" and the almanac "Dvina," which features works by literary talents from Vitebsk region.
One of the concepts of this year's holiday was the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The regional newspaper "Vitebsk Vesti" presented the exhibition "Pages of Victory."
The editor-in-chief Natalia Kamlyova spoke about the unique materials of the newspaper from the war years, as well as about the post-war issues.
