Lukashenko completed his visit to Russia
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has completed his visit to Russia, reports BELTA. The events of the official visit of the Belarusian leader to the Russian Federation took place on March 13-14. These included official talks with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin, a speech by the head of state in the Federation Council - the upper house of the Russian parliament - and a meeting with its speaker Valentina Matviyenko.
The head of state also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin communicated extensively in an informal setting and continued this communication after the official events.
As previously reported by BELTA citing the Kremlin press service, there was also an informal meeting in a trilateral format. The Presidents of Belarus and Russia were joined by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who later has bilateral official talks scheduled with the Russian leader.
The heads of state also connected by phone with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. "A warm, friendly conversation took place, during which the leaders discussed a number of pressing issues regarding the further development of interstate relations," the statement said. "The leaders of the countries agreed to meet on May 9 in Moscow during the solemn events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War."
