Lukashenko: the situation in the monetary and credit sector and on the foreign exchange market does not raise concerns
The situation in the monetary and credit sphere and on the foreign exchange market does not raise concerns. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on September 9 at a meeting with the staff of the National Bank and the leadership of banks, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The head of state reminded that six months have passed since the appointment of Roman Golovchenko as the head of the National Bank. At that time, specific instructions were given, primarily to strengthen the role of the banking system in supporting the economy. There was also a task set for the active implementation of digital technologies and strengthening information security.
"As I am informed, in general, the situation in the monetary and credit sphere and on the foreign exchange market does not raise concerns, - the President stated. - But at this moment, not everything has been done, there are shortcomings."
In particular, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned complaints addressed to banks from ordinary people: sometimes old dollars are not accepted, and sometimes insurance services are imposed on clients.
"Let's agree, starting from January 1, 2026, the presence of such facts will automatically entail disciplinary responsibility for the head (of the bank. - Note by BELTA), - the head of state emphasized - It is unacceptable to offend people with some fabricated issues. You should not show that you are smarter than others."
