Lukashenko participated in the CSTO summit in Bishkek
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, participated in the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Bishkek, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The head of the Belarusian state arrived at the venue of the summit in the administrative building "Yntymak Ordo", where he was welcomed by the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov.
This building is a new architectural symbol of Kyrgyzstan. The name has a deep meaning. "Yntymak" means "peace, friendship, and unity", while "ordo" is a place and center where strategically important decisions are made and implemented, determining the future of the country.
The leaders of the countries at the summit summarized the activities of the CSTO during the intersessional period and addressed issues of international and regional security. In his speech, Alexander Lukashenko expressed his views on current issues of ensuring collective security in the Eurasian space and outlined areas that require special attention from partners.
Among the documents to be adopted was the final declaration of the Collective Security Council, decisions regarding the provision of the organization's current activities, and strengthening cooperation in combating the illegal drug trade and illegal migration.
The summit also made a decision on the candidacy of the new Secretary General of the CSTO. The powers of the current head of the secretariat, representative of Kazakhstan Imangali Tasmagambetov, expire on December 31 of this year. The next three-year term will be held by the representative of Kyrgyzstan, Taalatbek Masadykov, who currently serves as the Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO.
