Lukashenko congratulated the election of the new Pope Leo XIV and invited him to Belarus

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, sent a congratulatory message on the election of the new Pope Leo XIV. This was reported by BELTA in the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"I sincerely congratulate you on your election as the Head of the Roman Catholic Church and the Head of the Holy See. Your selfless and diligent service to God and people, your commitment to high spiritual ideals have brought you to a qualitatively new stage of your mission - a very responsible one, associated with the hopes of millions of believers," the congratulation states. "I am pleased to note that recently the relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Holy See have been characterized by positive dynamics, and our vision of solutions to the pressing problems of the modern world coincides."
 
"I am convinced that the soon arrival of the Belarusian ambassador to the Vatican and the opening of the embassy at the Holy See will give new impetus to our cooperation in the spirit of trust and mutual understanding," the head of state noted.
 
"I will be very glad to see you on our hospitable land, where Christianity has long been an important element of public life and culture of Belarusians. I wish you, Your Holiness, good health, strength, inspiration in your pastoral ministry, as well as courage and success in strengthening peace and developing interreligious dialogue," Alexander Lukashenko added.
