Lukashenko signed a decree establishing the Appellate Economic Court
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed decree No. 141 on April 3 on the establishment of the Appellate Economic Court. This was reported by BELTA from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
This decision was made by the head of state to implement the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code, which provides for the creation of a three-tier system of economic courts.
Such structural transformation will occur by separating the activities of the courts of first and appellate instances, which currently operate within one court. This will be an important step towards increasing the efficiency of justice in economic cases.
The Appellate Economic Court, as a procedural body, will begin its work on January 1, 2026, i.e., from the date of entry into force of the Civil Procedure Code.
The court is planned to be formed from the existing number of judges and staff of other courts. A total of 27 judges will work in it, including the chairman and his deputies.
The Supreme Court has been instructed to submit proposals for candidates for leadership and judicial positions, as well as to resolve all necessary organizational issues aimed at ensuring the operation of the new judicial body.
