The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has appointed Dmitry Hora as the Attorney General. Until now, he was the head of the Investigative Committee, reports a BELTA correspondent.
The vacancy for the Attorney General position arose after Andrei Shved, who headed the prosecution authorities, was elected as the Chairman of the Supreme Court during the second session of the VII All-Belarusian People's Assembly on December 19 of this year.
Dmitry Yuryevich Hora was born in 1970 in Tbilisi (Georgia). In 1993, he graduated from the Military Red Banner Institute in Moscow with a degree in "law", and in 2018 - from the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus with a degree in "public administration and economics".
From September 1993 to April 2008, he served in positions as an investigator, senior investigator, and investigator for particularly important cases in the investigative department of the KGB. He was then appointed head of the investigative department. He held this position until July 2008.
From August 2008 to November 2009, he was the head of the third department of the Operational and Analytical Center under the President of Belarus.
From November 2009 to December 2019, he was the head of the investigative department of the KGB.
From December 2019 to March 2021, he held the position of Deputy Attorney General.
In March 2021, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
